artist bio

Nguyen Tuan had a happy childhood in Vietnam until the fall of Saigon in 1975.  After that he and his family endured all kinds of privation and oppression, with his father attending a "re-education" camp and he endured forced labor after an escape attempt.  He kept his sanity through the love of sculpture, which he practiced with his father and in prison.

He eventually escaped to California and studied at the prestigious Art Institute of California in Laguna Beach.  He has won many awards and has exhibited widely.
