Born Giuseppe Dangelico Daeni in Bari, Italy in 1939,he became known as Pino Daeni, or just Pino.  With an early talent, he was at first self-taught until enrolling in the Bari Art Institute and later the Academy of Brera in Milan.

He won many prizes and was then commissioned by two of Italy's largest publishers for numerous book illustrations.  After a visit to Manhattan he moved his family  to the U.S. where he became one of the highest paid book illustrators of his time, creating over 3,000 book covers, movie posters and magazine illustrations.

He returned to his impressionist revival painting roots after 1992 and became sought after in galleries. known for his style of feminine, romantic women and strong men, Pino painted with loose but accurate brushwork.
