Josef Kote was born in Albania in 1964. He studied art for more than 8 years, learning techniques of classical painting and old masters before branching out to express more freedom in his work. He is often considered to have his own style, which is a unique blend of traditional representational painting and expressionist abstraction.
After school he moved to Greece where he received important commissions and absorbed the Mediterranean light into his paintings which became more impressionist. After ten years he moved to Toronto where he mastered new subjects, and then to New York. His colorful, uplifting work is now sought around the world.
