Gary Welton was born in Minnesota and has a BFA from the University of Minnesota. Over the last 30 years, he has had over 150 major national and international exhibitions of his work in museums,and in both commercial and university galleries.
Welton focuses on painting directly from life using dancers in motion as his primary subjects. In 2016, the Minnesota Vikings and the US Bank Stadium commissioned Welton to paint 64 artworks capturing the rich history and moving athleticism of American Football now permanently on display in the owners and sponsors suites and in the Medtronic Club V.I.P. space.
