Christina Johnson is a local artist educated in biology but with a life-long artistic interest: “The field of science lends an exciting foundational voice to my creative thought and I have found their integration to be complex, wondrous, and demanding. There is no other tool to better express my inner thinking than a blank canvas to say what I cannot articulate with words.”
Her current series of artworks draw inspiration from 1960’s fashion and glamorous photographs of the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot. They explore an integration of her interest in fashion, with an interest in botanical abstractions. Using highly textured paints, dots, stripes and bold patterns, Christina creates a unique exuberant expression of couture fashion.
